"Ohana (Hawaiian for "family"): a group of individuals bonded for life by blood or by choice. Those you hold close to your heart and can always count on to be there for you in good times and in bad times. Truly a precious gift to be treasured."
Ohana Preservation Foundation offers thoughtfully planned mental wellness programs utilizing equine, art, and horticulture therapeutic modalities for:
- youth navigating difficult life circumstances and mental health challenges
- families with children admitted to hospice or have a significant illness
- families grieving the loss of a loved one
- caregivers struggling with compassion fatigue.
Located on an 81-acre farm, this enchanting place is possible only with the support of those who believe in the power of nature to mend shattered lives and soothe wounds both seen and unseen.
We have found that many who have been traumatized and have lost confidence in people are able to build trust and love through animals and find healing in nature over a traditional office setting.
Ohana Preservation Foundation would not exist without it's amazing Ohana of Volunteers, Animal Partners, Employees, Board of Directors, and Program Partners, which include Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Art Therapists, Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning and Licensed Professional Counselors.
We have a small number of employees, who wear multiple hats and over 350 volunteers.
